NOTE: THIS BUILD OF THE PROGRAM REQUIRES THAT MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 4 (SP1) OR HIGHER
IS INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM.

INSTALLATION
------------

1. Uninstall any previous version of GrassHopper using Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs.

2. Unzip the files to a temporary location.

3. Ensure that neither Internet Explorer or GrassHopper are running.

4. Run the file Setup.exe and follow the instructions of the setup program.

5. Run the GrassHopper V1 program from the Windows Program Menu item GrassHopper.

6. Ensure that you are connected to the internet and select 'Register this beta version'
from the Help menu. Register the software.

7. Start surfing!

NOTE: You may be asked to restart your machine to update files on your system.
Please do this when requested, to ensure successful installation.

HELP
----

Help is available by pressing F1 or by selecting Contents from the Help menu.

versions of the system files

TROUBLESHOOTING
----------------

IE4 INSTALLATION PROBLEM
------------------------

If you have IE4 installed and the 'Add Favorite' item in the Favorites menu does not do
anything or gives you an error, there are a number of ways to fix this problem.

You can install the latest service pack (currently SP2) for IE4 or install IE5. Or you can perform
the following patch:-

Go to the directory where you installed GrassHopper and unzip the ShellUIHelper.zip.
Right click on the extracted file ShellUIHelper.reg and select Edit. Change the line below,
if necessary, which defines your Windows system directory.

Save the change and then double-click on the file from Windows Explorer.

NOTE: PERFORMING THE ABOVE PROCEDURE INCORRECTLY CAN DAMAGE YOUR REGISTRY. ONLY PERFORM
THIS OPERATION IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

This problem is due to a bug in the installation of IE4, not in GrassHopper.

Note that you can always add a page to your Favorites by right-clicking in the broswer window
and slecting 'Add to Favorites' from the pop-up menu.
